This study guide is based on a 1982 Bible  Study Guide written by Gerhard Hasel, who, at the time of his death was known as a widely recognized scholar,  serving as the first John Nevins Andrews Professor of Old Testament and Biblical Theology and as director of the Ph.D. and Th.D. programs at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary on the campus of Andrews University, in Berrien Springs, Michigan. The study guide has been updated and revised by the author  and a committee representing the various world divisions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
